William Bukowski has been creating art since 1972. He has a large body of work and a portfolio that includes: paintings, drawings, lithographs, watercolors, and etchings. Please inquire if interested.
William Bukowski is a painter living in Mankato, MInnesota. He has retired from teaching art at Bethany Lutheran College (1980-2020). He graduated with an M.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1979, a B.F.A. from the University of Minnesota-Mankato in 1976. For three years of his undergraduate education he studied art at UW- Oshkosh. He taught one year at Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania 1979-80. While at Bethany, Bukowski led group art tours to Italy, France and England. He also brought students to New York City on art trips for 20 years. He formed the Young Michelangelo Art Camp at Bethany for 22 years. His artwork reflects his interest in working from life and scenes of nature, but he has also done portraits, still lifes and commissions.
In 2002 he completed a true fresco in the Meyer Hall of Math and Science at Bethany Lutheran College working with Jim Shugrue. His other religious commissions include Grace Lutheran in Madison, Wisconsin, Reformation Lutheran in Portland, Oregon, the altarpiece in Trinity Chapel at Bethany Lutheran College, and a series of Christ's life for Trinity Lutheran in Waterville, Minnesota. He completed 5 paintings for Resurrection Lutheran in Mankato and did decorative wall painting for St. Peter Lutheran Church in Elysian, Minnesota.
William Bukowski has participated in more than 200 exhibitions and has paintings in many private and public collections. Some of his public collections include the Minneapolis and St. Paul Children's Hospitals, the Madison Art Center, the Waseca Art Center, the Worthington Art Center, Pathstone Living, the Otteson Museum, the University of North Dakota, the University of Minnesota, ISJ/Mayo Clinic, St. Joseph's hospital, St. Paul, Fairview Riverside, Minneapolis and Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato.
